December 14, 2015 – On this date, we received our Certificate of Occupancy and officially moved into the new firehouse. The fire company is very pleased to give a great deal of thanks to George Lagonia Jr. and his entire construction crew for doing a fantastic job building the firehouse – on schedule and on budget. George and crew chief Billy Rippel were excellent to work with and met every expectation along the way. As a bonus George built and donated the kitchen cabinets. We look forward to the Spring of 2016 to work on the outside grounds to spruce things up. We will additionally be planning an Open House Celebration in the Spring. We thank the community for their very generous support to make this important addition to the town a reality.
April 18, 2015 Austerlitz Vol. Fire Co. Announces
Ground Breaking for Our New Firehouse
Saturday 4/18/15 10AM
The fire company extends an open invitation to the community to join us for a ceremonial ground breaking to be followed by coffee and lite fare. The construction site is directly south of the present firehouse at Route 22 and West Hill Road in Austerlitz.
February 2015 – Our fire company is proud to announce the bidding process for the new firehouse is complete and we have chosen George Lagonia Jr. Inc. as our general contractor. We are confident that George and his outstanding crew will build a high quality building that will blend nicely with every part of our historic community. Construction of our new building is expected to take 8 months to complete.Ground breaking is being planned to take place Saturday, April 11, 2015. Please continue to follow our website for event time and additional details as we would be very happy to welcome the community to join us.
December 2014 – Our construction plan is moving forward on schedule. We have interviewed and provided bid drawings to numerous local contractors. We have had very good response to the plans and are interacting with the contractors over minor viable options or suggestions to the plans. The bids from the contractors are due back to us by January 9, 2015, at which time we will begin the review process.
Our hope is to begin construction in the spring. Having said that, our Contribution Thermometer keeps rising on our home page but ever so slowly lately. We need our supporters to realize that we are in reach of our goal but need a last push to get us over the top. We need to make this happen in 2015 as the replacement for our 23 year old Engine 801 will be arriving in early 2016. As you may recall in our previous literature – a new engine will not fit through the door of our current firehouse! We’ve had tremendous support from the community and greatly appreciate every dollar contributed. Thank you in advance for your ongoing and generous contributions.
